Azusa Discovery Center (“ADC,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is operated by Azusa Discovery Center Preschool and School Age, Inc., a licensed child care provider in Los Angeles County, California (License #198021516). We are committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who visits our public website https://azusadiscovery.com (the “Website”), including prospective families, enrolled families, job applicants and members of the public.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Website, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It is written to comply with applicable federal and California law, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA).

1. Information We Collect

A. Information you give us directly

When you submit an inquiry, request a tour, ask about enrollment, subscribe to our newsletter, or apply for a position, we collect the information you choose to provide, which may include:

• Parent or guardian name
• Email address and phone number
• Your child’s first name and age or date of birth
• Desired start date, preferred days and times, and preferred contact method
• The content of any message, question or note you write to us
• For job applicants: resume, work history, qualifications and any other information you submit

Please do not submit medical records, social security numbers, financial account details, immigration status or other sensitive information through the Website’s public forms. If we need that information for enrollment, we will collect it securely and separately.

B. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our web server and certain plugins automatically record limited technical information when you visit, such as IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. This information is used for security, troubleshooting, and understanding overall site usage. We use a self-hosted visitor statistics tool (WP Statistics) that runs on our own server. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or cross-site tracking or retargeting networks on this Website.

C. Information from third parties

We may receive your contact details if you reach us through a third-party service such as a social media message, an online review platform, or a childcare referral service. We treat that information the same way we treat information you give us directly.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To respond to your inquiry, schedule a tour, and answer questions about our programs
• To follow up with prospective families about availability, waitlists and enrollment
• To communicate with enrolled families about their child, our programs, closures and events
• To evaluate employment applications
• To send newsletters or updates where you have asked to receive them (you can unsubscribe at any time)
• To operate, secure, maintain and improve the Website
• To comply with our legal, licensing, health and safety obligations

We do not use the information collected through this Website to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not use it for behavioral advertising.

3. Children’s Privacy and COPPA

Our Website is intended for parents, guardians and other adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.

Where our forms ask for a child’s first name, age or desired start date, that information is provided by the parent or guardian so that we can respond about age-appropriate programs and availability. We use it only for that purpose.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us through the Website without a parent’s involvement, please contact us at contact@azusadiscovery.com and we will delete it promptly.

4. Photographs, Video and Media

• We publish photographs and video of our classrooms, activities and events on this Website and on our social media only where we have written consent from the child’s parent or legal guardian, obtained through our enrollment paperwork.
• Consent is voluntary. Declining has no effect whatsoever on your child’s enrollment or care.
• We do not publish children’s full names, addresses, birthdates, classroom schedules or any other identifying details alongside their images.
• You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to contact@azusadiscovery.com. We will remove the images from our Website and our own social media accounts going forward. Please note that content that has already been shared, screenshotted or re-posted by others may be outside our control, and images may remain in archived or cached copies for a period of time.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them in the following ways:

• Strictly necessary — required for the site to work: session handling, form security and spam protection, load balancing and caching, and remembering your cookie consent choice. These cannot be switched off.
• Functional — remember preferences such as your chosen language.
• Analytics / performance — help us understand how many people visit and which pages they use.
• Advertising / targeting — we do not use advertising or retargeting cookies on this Website. Third-party embeds such as social media feeds or maps may, however, set their own cookies when they load.

When you first visit, a consent banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies and records your choice. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time from the cookie settings link on the banner, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies entirely, although parts of the site may then not work as intended.

Because this Website carries no advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking scripts, the third-party cookies that may be set are limited to those used by the embedded services listed in Section 7 — for example a map, a translation tool, a social media feed, a review widget or our spam-protection tool — which load as part of the page. If you would rather not allow those at all, you can block third-party cookies in your browser settings.

6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is still no common industry standard for how DNT should be honored, and this Website does not respond to DNT signals. Separately, we honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) opt-out preference signal where our systems receive one. Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is in practice nothing for such a signal to switch off.

7. Third-Party Services We Use

We rely on a small number of service providers to run the Website and our center. Each receives only the information it needs, and each is governed by its own privacy policy:

• Website hosting and security — our hosting provider and security/firewall tools store server logs (including IP addresses) to keep the site online and protect it from abuse.
• Fluent Forms — processes the inquiry, tour-request and enrollment forms on this Website and delivers the submissions to us by email.
• Google reCAPTCHA — used on our forms to block automated spam. Your use of reCAPTCHA is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
• FluentSMTP — delivers email sent by the Website (such as form notifications) through our email provider.
• Google Maps — used to display the location of our center(s).
• Google Reviews feed — used to display public reviews of our center.
• WP Statistics — a self-hosted, privacy-friendly visitor-counting tool. It runs on our own server, does not share data with any advertising network, and stores anonymized or truncated IP addresses.
• CookieYes — powers the cookie consent banner and records your consent choice.
• Brightwheel — our childcare management platform, used for enrolled families (attendance, daily reports, messaging, billing). Brightwheel is reached through a separate login and is governed by Brightwheel’s own privacy policy in addition to this one.
• Backup and migration tools — create encrypted backups of the Website so it can be restored after a failure.
• Email and productivity providers — used to receive and store inquiries and to communicate with families and staff.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites we link to. We encourage you to read their policies before providing information to them.

8. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the preceding twelve (12) months, including with respect to the personal information of minors under 16.

We disclose personal information only:

• To the service providers listed above, for the limited purpose of performing services for us
• To staff and management on a need-to-know basis
• Where required by law, court order, subpoena, or lawful request from a government or licensing authority, including the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division
• Where required by our mandated-reporter obligations under California law
• To protect the safety, rights or property of a child, a family, our staff, or the public
• In connection with a sale, merger or transfer of the business, subject to this Policy
• With your consent, or at your direction

9. Data Security and Retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including HTTPS/TLS encryption on the Website, a web application firewall and malware scanning, access controls and individual logins for administrators, and staff training on confidentiality. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep website inquiry information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected and for our legitimate business and legal needs — typically up to 24 months for inquiries that do not lead to enrollment, and for job applications, the period required by applicable employment law. Records of enrolled children are retained for the periods required by California licensing regulations. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.

10. Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclose it
• Access a copy of that information in a portable format
• Delete personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions (for example, records we are required to retain under licensing, health, safety or employment law)
• Correct inaccurate personal information
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of
• Limit the use of sensitive personal information — we do not collect sensitive personal information through this Website for any purpose that would trigger this right
• Not be discriminated or retaliated against for exercising any of these rights. We will never deny service, charge a different price, or provide a different level of care because you exercised a privacy right.

Categories of personal information collected through this Website in the past 12 months: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address); California customer records (name, phone, email); internet or network activity (pages viewed, browser and device information); geolocation at the approximate city level derived from IP address; and professional or employment information (for job applicants only). We collect these for the business purposes described in Section 2 and retain them as described in Section 9.

How to submit a request. Email contact@azusadiscovery.com with the subject line “California Privacy Request,” or call (626) 334-1806 / (626) 208-7006, or write to us at the address in Section 14. We will verify your identity by matching the information you provide against our records, and we will respond within 45 days (extendable by a further 45 days with notice). An authorized agent may make a request on your behalf with written permission that we can verify.

Shine the Light. California Civil Code § 1798.83 lets California residents ask us about personal information we disclose to third parties for their own direct marketing. We do not disclose personal information for that purpose.

California minors. Under California Business & Professions Code § 22581, a registered user under 18 may request removal of content they posted publicly on our Website. Our Website does not offer public posting, but if such content exists, contact us and we will remove it.

11. Other U.S. State Privacy Rights

Residents of other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of their personal information, and to appeal a decision we make about such a request. To exercise them, contact us using the details in Section 14 and tell us which state you reside in.

12. Accessibility

We are committed to making this Website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities, and we work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. 13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our tools, or the law. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will post a notice on the Website. Your continued use of the Website after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
